Cold means the Volvo C30 has stood at least three hours, or covered less than about a mile. Heat from a dual carriageway run is not the number you set. TPMS typically warns near 25 psi (about 25% below target). That is already a soft tyre, not a fill target. Keep side-to-side spread inside about 2 psi so the all-wheel drive hardware is not working on a radius mismatch.

Temperature and a cold gauge

Roughly 1 psi per 5–6 °C. The table uses 34 psi as a 20 °C baseline for this C30.

How to set the C30

  1. Park the Volvo C30 for at least three hours (cold tyres).
  2. Use a calibrated gauge, not the only meter on a forecourt hose.
  3. Set the placard for that axle — about 32-35 psi / 2.2-2.4 bar front and 32-35 psi / 2.2-2.4 bar rear on this catalogue row.
  4. Recheck all four. A 2 psi miss on a all-wheel drive C30 is enough to feel a pull.
  5. Refit valve caps and reset TPMS if the handbook asks for a relearn.

If the Volvo sticker is painted over, the handbook is next. This website is a map, not a replacement VIN label.

Estimated pressure by tyre size (205/60R16 and others)

If your Volvo C30 no longer wears the OEM diameter, start at the row nearest 205/60R16 or 225/45R17 and confirm with the tyre maker’s load table.

Load notes

Load moves the rear of a passenger car first. If the factory placard already has a “laden” column, use that instead of these sketches.

Volvo notes

Volvo AWD crossovers should stay even side-to-side. Winter wheels still follow the same placard unless a second sticker was issued.

Spare and inflator kit

A matching full-size spare on the Volvo C30 usually follows the higher axle (often the rear, near 32-35 psi). A space-saver is commonly 60 psi / 4.1 bar — read that tyre’s own sidewall. An inflator kit is not a spare; check the sealant date.

If the Volvo sticker and this page disagree, the sticker wins.

Questions about this C30

What is that in bar and kPa for the C30?

Mid-points are about 2.31 bar (231 kPa) front and 2.31 bar (231 kPa) rear.

What PSI if I plus-size toward 245/40R18?

Keep load index at or above OEM. Low-profile sizes usually stay at or slightly above the placard. Use 205/60R16, 225/45R17 and 245/40R18 as a planning band.

Should I bleed pressure after a motorway run?

No. Heat raises the gauge. Set cold only. Bleeding a hot tyre leaves it low the next morning.

What tyre pressure should a Volvo C30 use?

Catalogue reference is 32-35 psi front and 32-35 psi rear (2.2-2.4 / 2.2-2.4 bar), cold. Confirm on the door-pillar placard.

Is the sidewall number correct on a Volvo C30?

No. Sidewall PSI is a maximum. The C30 placard is the operating target, near 32-35/32-35 psi.
