UK winter mornings will show a lower gauge on this Promaster without a puncture. Set 34/34 psi at ~20 °C equivalent, not after a motorway blast. Under-inflation cooks the shoulders of a Promaster; over-inflation wears the centre rib and bangs every cat’s eye. Commercial and load-biased bodies like this van often need a higher rear; LT or C-type sizes such as 235/60R17 are not filled like a Fiesta.

Temperature and a cold gauge

Roughly 1 psi per 5–6 °C. The table uses 34 psi as a 20 °C baseline for this Promaster.

How to set the Promaster

  1. Measure before the school run, not after the M25.
  2. Write LF / RF / RR / RL. Do not keep Promaster numbers in your head.
  3. Add air in short bursts toward 34 psi (2.31 bar) front and 34 psi rear.
  4. If one corner is 4 psi down, hunt for a nail before you blame the weather.
  5. Log date, ambient temperature and the four readings.

RAM Promaster placard versus sidewall

If the RAM sticker is painted over, the handbook is next. This website is a map, not a replacement VIN label.

Estimated pressure by tyre size (225/65R16 and others)

If your RAM Promaster no longer wears the OEM diameter, start at the row nearest 225/65R16 or LT215/85R16 and confirm with the tyre maker’s load table.

Load notes

Load moves the rear of a van first. If the factory placard already has a “laden” column, use that instead of these sketches.

RAM notes

No special RAM exception: the Promaster uses the door-pillar placard. Size estimates on this page only help if you have left the original load index behind.

Spare and inflator kit

A matching full-size spare on the RAM Promaster usually follows the higher axle (often the rear, near 32-35 psi). A space-saver is commonly 60 psi / 4.1 bar — read that tyre’s own sidewall. An inflator kit is not a spare; check the sealant date.

If the RAM sticker and this page disagree, the sticker wins.

Questions about this Promaster

Is the sidewall number correct on a RAM Promaster?

No. Sidewall PSI is a maximum. The Promaster placard is the operating target, near 32-35/32-35 psi.

How often should I check a Promaster?

Monthly, before a long trip, and after a 10 °C weather swing. Include a full-size spare.

What tyre pressure should a RAM Promaster use?

Catalogue reference is 32-35 psi front and 32-35 psi rear (2.2-2.4 / 2.2-2.4 bar), cold. Confirm on the door-pillar placard.

Front versus rear on the RAM Promaster?

This row is 32-35 F / 32-35 R. Even when they match, a laden rear can justify a higher number if the sticker prints one.

When does TPMS warn on a RAM Promaster?

Direct TPMS typically flags about 25% below placard — near 25 psi on this row. Fill to the sticker, not to the lamp.
