Loaded Speedster rears often need the sticker’s second column, not a copy of the front 32-35 psi figure. Under-inflation cooks the shoulders of a Speedster; over-inflation wears the centre rib and bangs every cat’s eye. Battery mass on this {make} {model} makes a 4 psi-low tyre cost range as well as heat.

Chamonix Speedster placard versus sidewall

If the Chamonix sticker is painted over, the handbook is next. This website is a map, not a replacement VIN label.

Estimated pressure by tyre size (255/40R19 and others)

If your Chamonix Speedster no longer wears the OEM diameter, start at the row nearest 255/40R19 or 185/65R15 and confirm with the tyre maker’s load table.

Pressure against load

Load moves the rear of a passenger car first. If the factory placard already has a “laden” column, use that instead of these sketches.

ConditionFront (est.)Rear (est.)
Driver only34 psi / 2.34 bar34 psi / 2.34 bar
Full occupancy34 psi / 2.34 bar35 psi / 2.41 bar
Motorway + luggage35 psi / 2.41 bar37 psi / 2.55 bar

A family passenger car with a boot full of luggage should use the laden rear figure if Ford, VW or Mercedes printed one. Otherwise the modest steps in the load table are only a sketch for this Speedster.

How to set the Speedster

  1. Park the Chamonix Speedster for at least three hours (cold tyres).
  2. Use a calibrated gauge, not the only meter on a forecourt hose.
  3. Set the placard for that axle — about 32-35 psi / 2.2-2.4 bar front and 32-35 psi / 2.2-2.4 bar rear on this catalogue row.
  4. Recheck all four. A 2 psi miss on a front-wheel drive Speedster is enough to feel a pull.
  5. Refit valve caps and reset TPMS if the handbook asks for a relearn.

Chamonix notes

No special Chamonix exception: the Speedster uses the door-pillar placard. Size estimates on this page only help if you have left the original load index behind.

Spare and inflator kit

A matching full-size spare on the Chamonix Speedster usually follows the higher axle (often the rear, near 32-35 psi). A space-saver is commonly 60 psi / 4.1 bar — read that tyre’s own sidewall. An inflator kit is not a spare; check the sealant date.

Keep the Chamonix Speedster on the printed band; use 255/40R19 and 215/50R17 only as a map for non-OEM wheels.

Questions about this Speedster

Is the sidewall number correct on a Chamonix Speedster?

No. Sidewall PSI is a maximum. The Speedster placard is the operating target, near 32-35/32-35 psi.

When does TPMS warn on a Chamonix Speedster?

Direct TPMS typically flags about 25% below placard — near 25 psi on this row. Fill to the sticker, not to the lamp.

What PSI if I plus-size toward 215/50R17?

Keep load index at or above OEM. Low-profile sizes usually stay at or slightly above the placard. Use 255/40R19, 185/65R15 and 215/50R17 as a planning band.

What is that in bar and kPa for the Speedster?

Mid-points are about 2.31 bar (231 kPa) front and 2.31 bar (231 kPa) rear.

How often should I check a Speedster?

Monthly, before a long trip, and after a 10 °C weather swing. Include a full-size spare.
