Staggered fitment and split pressures

Staggered fitment means the rear tyre is wider than the front. Many rear-drive coupés ship this way. The placard may show two pressures, two sizes, or both.

Averaging front and rear “to keep it simple” puts one axle wrong on purpose. An M3 or a Mustang that lists 36 front and 38 rear wants that split.

You cannot rotate staggered sizes in an X. For pressure, each axle is its own job. That is why this gazette has front and rear URLs.

Aftermarket staggered plus-size on a car that was square from the factory does not get a made-up split. Start from the original placard, then use load tables.

Directional staggered tyres still use the axle’s pressure. The arrow on the sidewall is rotation, not inflation.
