Monthly tyre-pressure checklist

Updated 2026-09-18

Soak: car parked at least three hours. Note ambient temperature if you keep a log.

Gauge: one calibrated digital or quality analogue. Not the only instrument on a supermarket machine.

Order: left-front, right-front, right-rear, left-rear, then the spare if it is full-size. Write the numbers.

Target: door-pillar placard for each axle, cold. Catalogue PSI/bar on a model chart is a band if you are shopping sizes.

Spread: if three tyres match and one is 0.3 bar down, look for a nail, a bent rim or a bad core before you call it a frost.

Caps: replace missing valve caps. A dirty core leaks.

TPMS: confirm the lamp is out after a fill. Relearn if the handbook says so.

Look: bulge, cut, cord, or a repair in the sidewall is a replacement. Pressure will not save it.

Log: date, mileage, four numbers, spare.

Trip extra: repeat the morning you leave, and after a 15 °C weather change.
